Illinois Veterans Home at Manteno.     He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Kankakee, the son of George and Laura Hertz Johnston. Cliff married Louise Piggush on Dec. 16, 1950, in Kankakee.     Cliff worked at Key City Motors, Kankakee Electric Steel and retired from Walmart. He was a member of the Watseka VFW. He enjoyed gardening. Cliff was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Crescent City United Methodist Church.     Surviving are his wife, of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Carl and Debbie Johnston, of Anna; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barb and John Darling and Janet and Mark Richard, all of Kankakee; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Carol McCaughey, of Loveland, Colo.; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Harold and Dolores Piggush, of Kankakee, Doris and Bill Miller, of Gilman, and Evelyn Piggush, of Watseka; along with many nieces and nephews.     Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Alma Johnston; brother, Willard Johnston; sister, Evelyn Campbell; five brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.     Visitation was held August 17th, prior to funeral services at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. The Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiated. Orwig, 86, of Kankakee, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.He married Valda Dilton on June 5, 1955 in Thawville. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2016.Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindy Orwig of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lauri Orwig of Elgin and Cindy and Terry Conlon of Champaign; one sister, Carol Corner, of Oregon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Valda; his parents, Erwin and Emma Klaiss Orwig; five brothers, three sisters; and one son, Tim.Leonard was a retired farmer. He had been a master welder for Roper. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed gardening and loved attending and working at auctions.Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation was held August 23, 2017 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee, where a memorial service was held on August 24, 2017.Memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.
